(San Francisco, CA – October 5, 2009) – On the eve of the Ironman World Championships, today it was announced that 2009 Ironman Coeur d’Alene champion, Tyler Stewart, has signed a multi-year contract extension with the LUNA Pro Team and established a new partnership with Fitness Anywhere’s TRX Suspension Training. Stewart will also continue to work with her long-time sponsors including coach Matt Dixon of purplepatch fitness and the Saris Cycling Group. In addition, she will teach indoor cycling classes through her relationship with the new San Francisco training facility, Velo Collective.
“After all of the problems I’ve had with my thyroid I really didn’t think I would be racing this year let alone find myself on the starting line for Kona with so many amazing sponsors standing behind me. Battling health problems has been really hard for me both physically and emotionally but knowing my coach Matt Dixon, David Cathcart at Saris and the entire LUNA Pro Team and Clif Bar family were in my corner rooting me on made all the difference. Today I am healthy and strong and so happy to be affiliated with the best group of sponsors in the business who are not merely logos to me but real friends.”
Stewart has been a member of the LUNA Pro Team since the 2008 season. When she takes the starting line in Kona on October 10th, she will be representing LUNA Pro Team sponsors including riding the Orbea Ordu that helped her break the bike course record at the 2009 Ironman Coeur d’Alene by nearly 15 minutes and running in Avia’s Avi Lite II.
Stewart’s relationship with Fitness Anywhere grew out of her attending TRX classes at their San Francisco training facility. “I'm limited on time and the TRX suspension trainer is one of the most efficient ways to strengthen and stretch my entire body,” Stewart said. “Just swimming, biking and running isn’t enough anymore, you have to train strength, and I do it on the TRX.”
Based out of Novato, California, Stewart and her husband Johnny Eason also own and operate a dog-walking, grooming and boarding business in San Francisco’s Bay Area called WAGS (www.sfwags.com).
