Akron, OH USPro Tri professional triathlete team is pleased to report a very productive June! All of our athletes are continuing to improve by leaps and bounds.
Daniel Bretscher has had quite a break through season and two very brutal half ironman races this month. At the hilly and hot Kansas 70.3, only his second half ever, Daniel finished 4th pro and 1st American! Check out this picture (click thumnail above) of Daniel dropping a 5-time world champion!
Daniel then nabbed his first big pro win at the Morgantown, WV half ironman! This started as a loaded pro field, but soon turned into a race of attrition. Some pro’s missed a turn and dropped out, some were injured and couldn’t start, some dropped out on the tough course, one crashed, and part of the time it rained like crazy. Daniel made the best of it and stormed through for a great win!
Team director Ryan Bates continues to improve in the half ironman discipline, also racing Kansas and Morgantown. Figuring out the run will be key, and these two races have provided some very tough tests. Ryan looks forward to a few flatter half Ironman races in July!
Chris Tremonte started the month with a solid finish at the very tough Escape From Alcatraz. Then after a win at a local tri, he followed up with a great 6th overall and 3rd American finish at the Lake Stevens 70.3 half ironman. Chris was not even sure about starting this race, as he has been battling back from injury, so this was definitely a great result!
Dave Kuendig has spent most of the month preparing for a slew of upcoming draft-legal races. He has been training hard and doing some local 10k run races to prep for a tough second half of the year.
John Kenny used his swim specialty to score the fastest pro swim split at the Columbia tri in Maryland. He followed that up with a very solid 5th out of 15 pro’s at the Philly tri! John then closed out the month with a 2nd overall at a local sprint tri.
Kevin Lisska was unfortunately one of the victims of the crazy Morgantown race. After two flats tires on the rough roads his day was pretty much over. Kevin wanted a good training day out of it, so still finished. He also won a local sprint tri earlier in the month. The highlight of Kevin’s month was being named to the USAT Long Course World Championship squad, where he will represent the USA at World’s in the Netherlands!
USPro Tri is supplied by Ceepo, Profile Design, Trico Sports, Suunto, Beyond Fabrications, Xtri.com/FuelBelt, TRP, Polar Bottles, and several race directors. Keep track of the team at www.USProTri.com!
