Ernesto Fernandez won the male race in 4:35 and Williana Rojas the female race in 5:03 at the TOUGHMAN WISCONSIN HIGH CLIFF Half Iron race for 2016! This year’s race was marked by perfect weather, a stellar field and lots of families that came from as far as Paraguay to race the TOUGHMAN Nationals Qualifier. The course is located at High Cliff park Sherwood WI just 1 hr from all major WI airports and close to Appleton where the host hotel is located. This event has been around for over 7 years and has a very loyal following of age groupers who like the grassroots feel. Ben West, the race director and his staff are amongst the best in business which is why he was chosen to host a TOUGHMAN event. “We continue to grow in both popularity and the number of races because we represent grass roots triathlon but with a standardized format. Athletes that register for a TOUGHMAN race know that they will get a safe, great race experience at every TOUGHMAN venue. Having a brand that caters specifically to age groupers and families is good for the sport.” Over 100 age group qualifiers will receive invitations for the TOUGHMAN Half Iron National Championship on Sept. 18th in New York where they will compete for a cash purse of $4950. Athletes in the open division will compete for over $30,000 worth of awards.
