Elbaman 2012
The iron dream is called... Elbaman!
Sunday 30 September, in the wonderful Marina di Campo (Elba Island), over 700 triathletes (individual and relays) have raced Elbaman and Elbaman73.
The staff of Aethalia Triathlon had prepared with precision and attention the competition area: race course is spectacular, with an hard and technical bike section.
In the "half iron" (Elbaman73, 1.9K swim, 94K bike, 21.1K run), glory for italians Giuseppe Baldelli e Sara Dossena: Baldelli has beaten the winner of the 2011, Reto Baumgartner (SUI); great third position for Matteo Perlini (ITA). Dossena preceded the countrymen Laura Pederzoli and Daniela Pallaro.
In the full race distance (Elbaman, 3.8 swim, 180K bike, 42.2K run), the rain has accompanied the triathletes in the afternoon, making the game even tougher.
Third win for Matteo Annovazzi (ITA), with the best bike and run split; silver for Francisco Pontano (ARG), first out of the water, and bronze for Gregorio Caceres Morales (ESP), with a great climb in marathon.
In the "elbawomen race", domain of the austrian Monika Stadlmann; second place for Michelle Parsons (GBR), winner of half iron 2011, third for belgian Bianca Van Den Kieboom.
The appointment with the next edition of Elbaman is already set for 29 September 2013!
