Hamilton, Coyle to expose doping practices in new book

Tyler Hamilton will detail a career's worth of doping and "winning at all costs" in a forthcoming book from Ballantine Bantam Dell, the publisher announced Monday.
The September 18 release of "The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France," which Hamilton co-wrote with New York Times bestselling author Daniel Coyle, coincides with embattled Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong's 41st birthday.
"The Secret Race" centers around Hamilton and the activities he detailed during grand jury testimony for the federal investigation into Armstrong and the U.S. Postal Service team.
"When I testified to the grand jury, I told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth," said Hamilton. "I kept it all inside for way too long and I realized it was a story that needed to be told. I think when people learn how it really was - how it worked, how we did it, what it felt like - they'll see that this story is bigger than any one individual in the sport. It's really about making choices when you're pushed to the edge and deciding what you're willing to do to compete. I want to take people inside our world so they can understand the lives we lived."
Hamilton appeared on CBS' "60 Minutes" in May 2011 to discuss that testimony, which Armstrong's legal team dismissed as a PR stunt aimed at promoting a book deal.
"Hamilton is actively seeking to make money by writing a book, and now he has completely changed the story he has always told before so that he could get himself on "60 Minutes" and increase his chances with publishers," Armstrong's attorney Mark Fabiani said at the time. Continue Reading here...
